Empowering Women After Domestic Violence
Domestic violence affects one in three women regardless of class or social difference. Yet there is a common misconception that domestic violence occurs mainly in urban and low-income communities. In the Greater Rochester region of New York, over 50% of all domestic violence occurs in suburban or rural areas. For this reason, RESOLVE of Greater Rochester formed to serve these women with the mission to develop and deliver innovative, community-centered solutions that empower people and communities to break the cycle of domestic violence.
Grants4Good LLC has been providing grant consulting, training, research and writing services to RESOLVE consistently for several years. As a small, growing nonprofit organization working in the field of domestic violence prevention and intervention, RESOLVE is funded mainly through individual gifts, fundraising events/ appeals, and grants from family, community and corporate foundations. In order to serve over 100 women annually with individual counseling and resource services at no charge, RESOLVE follows an aggressive and consistent grant strategy. The result is funding to help empower women affected by domestic violence so they may not only survive, but thrive and lead violence-free lives.
“Ms. Brazda Poirier of Grants4Good has helped us identify several new well qualified funding sources, strengthen our grant proposals and logic model, and has provided consistent and persistent support to me and our Board of Directors. She has been incredibly helpful to our organization in understanding the grant process and how prospective funders think; she has also been a strong advisor on structuring program outcomes that are measureable and relevant to the funding sources we have pursued. I would recommend her – and already have on several occasions – to other nonprofit organizations who are seeking to have a more strategic grants program.” Allison O’Malley, Executive Director, RESOLVE of Greater Rochester
