Day Engineering is an environmental engineering firm that works with businesses, utilities, municipalities, developers, contractors and other public and private sector clients. Day Engineering first contacted Grants4Good LLC in 2010 to secure them as their “go-to” grant agency for a major contract with the County of Monroe in New York. Since then, Day and Grants4Good have worked with Monroe County and other partners that include the Rochester Institute of Technology, to secure grants for innovative environmental projects.
An early success was receiving a highly competitive $225,000 U.S. Environment Protection Agency Climate Showcase Community grant for a community-based biofuel program. With less than 10% of applications funded by the U.S. EPA that year, the project components, evaluation plan, and budget needed to be of the highest quality and clarity. The funds have enabled Monroe County Department of Environmental Services to collect and convert local food waste-oil to a biofuel that can be used to fuel municipal vehicles. The result is a reduction in greenhouse gases and other air toxins, and a cleaner greener community.
More recently, Day Engineering, Grants4Good and Monroe County received over $230,000 from the competitive Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) fund. These funds contributed to the conversion of dozens of County fleet vehicles to alternative fuels (and purchase of electric vehicles) — all to help the County meet its goal of converting its “entire vehicle fleet to alternative fuel and phase out traditional gas.” Grant funds have enabled Day Engineering and Monroe County to provide a cleaner, safer environment for the community’s residents.
“We’ve worked with Grants4Good LLC on a number of projects and have enjoyed the professional manner and presentation provided by Margit Brazda Poirier. Margit is very good at what she does. I would have no hesitation in contacting her for the next project, and will continue to rely on her grant writing expertise.” Trent Wellott, Day Engineering, P.C.
