Morning Session: Introduction to Grant Writing
Trainer: Margit Brazda Poirier, GPC, M.S., Founder and Owner of Grants4Good LLC
The focus is on writing grant proposals to support programs and operations at nonprofit organizations and schools. Workshop participants will learn the basic skills needed to find and write compelling foundation, state and federal grants. Topics will include: 1) How to find grant opportunities; 2) Preparing information commonly asked for in grant applications; and 3) Tips for preparing grant applications.
Afternoon Session: Introduction to Grant Project Evaluation
Trainer: Dr. Gary Ciurczak, Founder of Via Evaluation
Grant applications often require that projects have a solid evaluation plan in place prior to approving funding. This workshop will focus on 2 key areas: 1) Reviewing key elements of any evaluation plan, including how goals, objectives, outputs, and outcomes all work together; and 2) more involved evaluation concepts, including indicators, methodology, and types of evaluation. Once these are completed, the workshop will move to an open discussion, answering specific questions generated from workshop topics and participant projects. Participants may bring an RFP with questions prepared for this segment.
